Recommended Boards for Project Teams

MSPs use these boards to understand the project work in their PSA

For project teams we recommend these boards:

• A project board to show your entire high-level project portfolio. This tracks projects through their lifecycle. The board shows columns mapped to project statuses.
• A ticket (ConnectWise terms)/task (Autotask terms) board with project swimlanes. This shows the details of many projects in a single pane of glass. Also technicians can use the Filter dialog to set the Resource filter to themself to see only their own project work.
• A ticket/task board with resource swimlanes. Useful for the team lead and project managers to see how work is distributed in the team. To make this board, just clone (duplicate) the project swimlane board and change the swimlane option on the cloned board.
• A ticket/task board with phase swimlanes. Again, clone this from the first ticket board and change the swimlane to phase. This board isn't usually used directly; rather it's used as the target of the drill-down option from the project portfolio board (the magnifying glass icon). To set this up, edit the project portfolio board. In the General tab, card fields section, set the value of the "ticket board" (ConnectWise) or "task board" (Autotask) field to this phase swimlane board. This adds a magnifying glass icon to the project cards that when clicked opens up the phase swimlane board showing the phases and tickets from the project you clicked.
